Barcelona: Barcelona is a cosmopolitan and modern city on the Catalan Mediterranean coast, known worldwide as the birth-place of many artistic movements. Its multicultural population and the personal and brilliant touch of the internationally known architect Gaudí are two of its most remarkable features. In Plaça Catalunya you will find the main Tourist Information Centre and Tourist Bus stop. This service is extremely well organised and therefore highly recommended. A fleet of convertible buses with a tour audio guide will take you to the most interesting places in the city. It is not a guided tour, meaning that you can get on and off as many times as you wish during the day. It is recommended to spend at least 6 or 7 days to see the whole of the Catalan capital. We recommend buying the 2-day ticket for the Tourist Bus, available at our campsite reception desk.

Mataró: With its 125,000 inhabitants, Mataró is the capital of the region called Costa de Barcelona – Maresme. It is located on the coast of the Mediterranean and has wonderful beaches and a high-quality seafront promenade. Open from Tuesday to Friday from 8 am to 2.00 pm and from 5.30 pm to 8 pm, Saturday from 8 am to 2.00 pm.

‘Plaça Cuba’ Market: Dedicated to food. The building, work of the architect Lluís Gallifa, was opened in 1936. Open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 8 am to 2.30 pm, on Friday from 8 am to 8.00 pm and Saturday from 8 am to 1.30 pm. Castellers: One of Catalonia’s most impressing and well-known traditions, the building of human towers. The local group or “colla” Capgrossos de Mataró meets up for training on Tuesdays and Fridays – except bank holidays – from 8 pm to 9 pm just the “canalla” – children –, and from 9 pm to 11 pm the whole group. A wonderful country! Good weather, nice villages, beautiful beaches, good food and Mediterranean views! What else?

We recommend the purple route to Passeig dels Anglesos, which is really easy to walk and unbelievably beautiful. If you have a dog, take it on this stroll with you to the furthest beach in Caldes d’Estrac. The promenade Passeig dels Anglesos starts after the Marina Port Balís in Sant Andreu de Llavaneres, and it connects the beaches of Sant Vicenç and Caldetes. Beach clubs and restaurants are open all year, and dogs are welcome!

In Caldes d’Estrac, you will find the museum Fundació Palau, an artistic space dedicated mainly to Picasso – free admission on the first Sunday of the month. In the centre of the village, you will find a little spa, a cosy thermal bath where water flows at 38ºC, with a pool where you can enjoy all of its therapeutic benefits at 36ºC. On the right of Fundació Palau, you will find the entrance to Parc Muntanyà – free admission – which offers amazing views to the village and to the Mediterranean Sea.

For those on the adventurous side, Sant Vicenç de Montalt offers the highest hills in the 3 villages, with the steepest slopes. Don’t forget to bring a bottle of water per person with you. (See routes on the map)
